About IFBB Pro Joel Thomas
Joel Thomas started in gymnastics at 3 years old and continued in the sport until he was 13 years old. As you know, gymnastics builds a lot of strength, in the muscles as well as the tendons and ligaments. After gymnastics, Joel got into wrestling, another strength sport.
Joel wanted to get stronger for wrestling, so his father, who was a bodybuilder, introduced Joel to the weight room. Throughout high school, Joel started playing football, but he also started powerlifting. He ended up benching 633 lbs at 22 years old!
Joel then started to compete in bodybuilding once a year as well as competing in powerlifting a couple times a year until he outgrew the junior division in powerlifting. Then it was all bodybuilding.
