About IFBB Pro Joe Russo

Joe Russo grew up playing sports including football, baseball, basketball and wrestling. His true love is football. While playing football as a young player, Joe realized that he needed to put on some size and strength. Soon after, Joe started working out. People and friends around him noticed his shape and the gains he was making. They often would encourage him to compete in bodybuilding. At first, he resisted, but soon after decided to compete. Through his teenage years, Joe won some important teen bodybuilding titles including the Teen Overall at the Michigan State.

After competing in bodybuilding as a teen, Joe went back to his true love, football. For many years through his 20s, he competed in semi-pro football as well as Arena Football. A few years back, Joe injured his hamstring. It never really healed properly, and Joe never recovered his speed completely.

That injury lead Joe back to bodybuilding again in 2016. He’s now concentrating on competing in Classic Physique and hopes to go pro soon.
